SUNSETS: *like an after office but not quite

Sunsets are the summer version of an after office drinks hangout, although you can swap the previous office time for beach time. There are drinks, there’s a DJ, there’s the same people you probably saw all day, there’s the wakko that loses it and dances on top of the bar at already 6.30pm, and there’s the ones trying to get lucky, or at least find someone that will accompany to the night club later.

Despite the awful lot of similarities, sunsets are way more fun, for starters, they’re one of my favourite things to see in Punta del Este, I mean it’s on the discourse of any real estate agency here, the unique Punta del Este sunsets.

Today I’m coming to one laters with a friend where another friend will be DJ’ing. So when she told me the location I immediately thought I gotta think of an outfit, oh well, location is a nudist beach; say what?! Well how about that?

I later found out that the nudist part is just on the title of the beach, and unfortunately I won’t be rocking my body harness in any sandy beaches today. Feel like joining?

LINE OF FIRE: staycation | uruguay

Given that I will be leaving my beloved Uruguay soon again, I started to get all that FOMO I did not get the past months while being here, and decided to explore the beauties of the motherland, I’m a beachside gal with the countryside at heart.

For someone utterly obsessed with traveling, sometimes I take for granted the millions of tourists that land in my lands every year. Don’t get me wrong, they do not go unnoticed, the inexistent winter supermarket queues suddenly become a thing, clubs and night bars come to life, and believe it or not, even the traffic lights get turned on during summer.

As you may know from my about page I suffer from a restless wanderlust gene

As usual, there was a need to dress the part. I wanted to wear my graduation dress which I bought off a super cute concept store in Chelsea London, last summer, but I thought how do I pull off an upwards U$S 1000 silk dress and take it to the countryside?

So I thought ok, layers, layers and textures are the key to solving this [oh so first world] problem. Started off with La Marca 1967 denim patch jacket in blue and white, which immediately vibed countryside to me, I told myself: cowgirl let’s cliché the f*ck out of this outfit and tie a red scarf to your Balenciaga bag, had chosen the bag cus it was suppoused to rain and this baby comes with a special coating for summer showers. Skies cleared laters I learnt sometimes we all just need a little staycation, for what we call home and routine, can all of a sudden become adventures and newness.

GYPSYLUXE: denim & wanderlusting | uruguay

Locations inspire me, they give me a starting point for building cute outfits. I started off with this denim jacket by La Marca 1967

Being lucky enough to live right in front of the sea the natural and most comfortable thing to have done would have been to just throw some big golden earrings matching the buttons in the jacket, put on white bikini bottoms, and cross to the beach to shoot.

SO THIS IS HOW IT WENT DOWN: I think gypsy I think Esmeralda (The hunchback of Notre Dame), I think Esmeralda I think flowy dresses and emerald stones, I think flowy I think flowers (bingo I got the dress) I think emerald I think my Hermes scarf, I think scarf I was in gypsy mode and bingo, I got the head piece. There’s always that millennial touch so my clear glasses and logomania Gucci Bag were a must to top the outfit, I think countryside I think booties, I think 35 degrees weather I think better not do booties, I think countryside I think booties, I compromised with cowboy mules. BREATHE.

I have a thing for dressing the part..

Truth is, the moment I held this soft denim jacket I immediately pictured myself as a gypsy, a LuxeGypsy, of course. So I decided to go explore the Uruguayan countryside, the chic way.

Spent hours driving and discovering the Uruguayan countryside these days, there’s something so peaceful about all the silence; to be fair, on a day it catches me a bit crossed it might drive me crazy [all those voices in her head], but for the most part it’s quite relaxing.
