OLD SCHOOL KIRA KIRA: sequins & gucci gang

Diana Vreeland once said “The eye must travel“, I believe “The eye will always travel to the light“, [yes I did just quote me-self].

What better way to catch all that shine and wrap it in your outfit than a good old sequin piece.

I inherited this black vintage beauty from my grandma almost ten years ago.

STYLING TIP: I think the key for wearing your sequins is matching them with completely different but complementing textures; like satin, velvet, silk, taffeta or anything that will stand out on its own and aid on making the sequin embellished garment stand out as well [not that all those sparkles won’t do the job]

One of my personal faves is matching black sequins with leather trousers, I feel like a sexy rock n roll star whenever I pull that look

It’s the been real life all sparkles look since 2500BC [nerd alert], before we saw the world through the glamorous lens of KiraKiraApp

A FAIRYTALE AFFAIR : Luxembourg

Just my basics on the [highly democratic] city of Luxembourg.

How to get around

I had been in Luxembourg City last winter, and fallen head over heels for the rather princess’ like architecture, however, it wasn’t until this summer that I truly unravelled her. Regardless of her snobish façade, she caters for all tastes and budgets.

It’s legit where Europeans who don’t do beaches escape Europe in the summer, picture all the services from a big city without the hecticness of it, basically just like Paris after popping any-kind-of-Pam.

Oh, and they have 3 national languages, yes 3! Luxembourgish [ok this one I don’t speak], German & French, oh and if that isn’t enough, everyone knew English and many of them Spanish too, it was cultural [middle ages] heaven.

Where to crash

As per hotel’s you find everything from Relais Chateaux allies, see what was my home away from home  at 18 Place D’Armes, a beautiful boutique relique; to your classic go to luxe hotels, case & point on another occasion I nested at the Sofitel.

And although I didn’t see for myself, I know for a fact there are 2 and 3 star hotels thanks to booking.com and I remember seeing one right next to ours at the Place D’Armes called Hotel Café Français.

Where to dine

Breakfast in bed during holidays is a must for me, however being a huge fan of the salade de chèvre chaud, and having spent a month in Germany prior to my arrival in Luxembourg, I let my 6th sense walk me to the Place D’Armes restaurant that makes one of my fave versions of it.

If you’re after the vibes of the Place D’Armes view and atmosphere but not too keen on the price tag, there are plenty of affordable restaurants, right next to Michelin Star rated ones..I mean..does the democratic description make sense already?

Don’t forget the rosé!

Like any good European city in the summer, it’s acceptable for it to be wine o’clock all day.

Café de Paris carries a great selection, not that you’ll notice after the 3rd glass, and a beautiful terrace perfect for sipping with your shades on à la Audrey. If you wanna do funky atmosphere & cocktails with breathtaking views of the city, then L’Observatoire is the place, located on a high floor over Sofitel Grand Ducal.

For beers and pub food head down to the Valley and Scott’s Pub shall provide.

Where to shop?

Curiously enough, Rue Philippe II houses everyones tastes [& pockets]; I mean, first shopped at Louis Vuitton and literally crossed the street to H&M and got the dress on the first photo, need I say more?

I can go on and on about the walks, entertainment and gastro-fashion experience at Luxembourg, however what keeps me coming back for more is the people, legit one of the friendliest places I’ve ever set foot on.

Hopefully this will make for a discovery starting point for other #wanderlusters out there.

Namasté!
